Dental Ethics in Atlantic Canada

The Atlantic Provinces Dental Ethics Support Resource website is an ethics resource for dental professionals from the four Atlantic Canadian provinces.

Atlantic Provinces Dental Ethics
Support Resource

The initiative is a unique collaboration that brings together four distinct regulatory jurisdictions. In the dental profession, ethical conduct, trust and professionalism are the cornerstone of a strong patient-provider relationship. This website is a hub of resources compiled to help dentists manage challenging ethical issues and helps educate Atlantic Canadian dentists and dental students on ethical best practices.

With the support of the American College of Dentists, existing ethics resources have been selected and/or adapted to fit the regional context, making them more accessible to dentists in the region.

What Is Dental Ethics?

Ethical behaviour is a foundational tenet of professionalism and the basis for public trust granted to professionals, like dentists. By focusing on the principles of ethical behaviour and providing pathways to ethical standards of conduct, the aim of Dental Ethics is to ensure the dental profession consistently delivers on its commitment to society.

Adapted, in part, from the American College of Dentists and the Canadian Dental Association.
